What's Up with the Lettuce??

Here at Garden Fresh Market we go one-step further than providing you with excellent produce at a great value, we also inform our customers of current market trends. At this time, the California growing season for lettuce is ending and we had expected to receive crops from Arizona; however, due to cold weather in AZ this crop is not ready in time. The Current “transition” period has lead to extremely high lettuce prices and a shortage of bag salads. This shortage should be ending in two weeks. Consider using Artisan Lettuces, Spring Mix, and Spinach, which you can find at value prices, here at Garden Fresh Market.

We really appreciate your business! Adi Mor

Garden Fresh Market will Partner with The Salvation Army to Participate in The Angel Tree Program

At GFM we pride ourselves in being a grocery store for our community. We feel that it is so important to get involved with our community and participate in programs such as The Angle Tree Program from The Salvation Army.

Each store will be participating in this great program- and here's how it works:

Each store has a Christmas tree adorned with Paper ornaments. Each ornament is printed with the name, age, clothing size, shoe size, gift request and a code number. GFM customers are then able to "adopt" their angel, which essentially means that you will be helping this "angel" have a better holiday.

After adopting your angel and purchasing a gift for them, you can bring it back to GFM and we will drop their present off at the Salvation Army.

Help Garden Fresh make a difference. Help a child in the community, and make their holidays unforgettable. For more information please contact any of the stores, and ask to speak with the manager.

Grocery Shopping Tips from the Pros

Many people roll their eyes when they realize it's time to make a trip to the store. But there are a few things that you can do to ensure that your shopping experience is great. So- clean out your fridge, and let's get shopping!

Firstly, it's important to do your homework. A knowledgeable shopper is one who saves time, money and frustration. Take a few moments at home to survey your pantry and write down what you need. With a proper shopping list, you can be sure to reduce the amount of trips to the store. Also, have a look at this week's ad. Make sure to also jot down the products you want that are on sale. This will help you save money at the check out. During the week, if you see you're low on things, write it down. This will help you when it comes time to getting into the store. Also- it might help to plan out your meals for the week. This will take the stress off of you when the kids ask "What's for dinner?". You'll already know what to tell them, and furthermore, you'll have written it down, put the ingredients on your shopping list, and be prepared! Take your shopping list with you- and STICK TO IT!

Secondly, eat BEFORE you shop. Ever make a trip to the store on an empty stomach? BAD IDEA! Everything looks good when you're hungry! To save money (and calories!) make sure that you're stomach isn't grumbling while you're walking through the aisles.

Another way to save is to try store brands. Our Amor line of groceries is tough competition to your favorite brands, and for a GREAT price! This is an excellent way to cut costs. We have store options for nuts, fruits, frozen meat, pizzas, rice- and once you try it, you'll love it!

Look for un-advertised specials. Garden Fresh strives to be your local store with the best deals in town. Quite frankly, there just isn't enough room in our advertisement for all of our specials! This is great for you as a shopper, because it gives you more varieties, and more opportunities for saving! Look for the orange "Special" signs or yellow "Manager Special" tags for more in-store specials.

When buying produce- know what's in season. Our store owner, Adi Mor, is constantly saying "Don't extend your seasons!". Although this seems like common sense, if you really think about it, his produce motto speaks VOLUMES! If you're buying produce in season, it will be better priced, and it's taste will be unforgettable.

And finally: use your rewards card! There are always opportunities for further savings, and prize give-a-ways. Right now we have our Turkey Give-A-Way, so be sure to rack up those points!!!

Enjoy your shopping experience!

Welcome to our Blog!

We’ve got the personal touch!

I began my business about 30 years ago. I had the idea to sell fruit and vegetables to pay the bills and that’s where it all started. I would get into my little red pickup and head to downtown Chicago’s International Produce Market. I would buy the best produce and hit the streets to sell to stores and restaurants. 25 years ago I opened my first produce stand. Garden Fresh Market now has 8 locations and I still pick out the fruit and vegetables for every store everyday. I love this job.

Great Quality Produce at a very competitive price is always a challenge in today’s market. I have been buying produce for over 30 years. Here at Garden Fresh Market, I personally oversee our expert buyers who buy our top quality produce at the very best prices day after day. We are at the market each and everyday at 4:00am. We hand pick and taste everything to find the very best quality produce and then secure it at the very best price for you everyday! Not everybody in Chicagoland spends the time and energy that we do to be the very best.

This is why you can count on Garden Fresh Market to have the very best quality and the very best prices. Thank you for your business,
